Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB)

We have received a lot of questions from candidates concerning checking of admission status on JAMB portal. It is true that some school have already released their admission list for 2017/2018 academic session but just like JAMB announced earlier, all admissions must be approved by JAMB before they are valid.

This means that even if your school has offered you admission, you are to confirm your admission status on JAMB portal before you can confidently say that you have been offered admission.

In previous years, a candidate can visit JAMB Admission Status checking portal with his or her JAMB Registration Number to confirm whether he or she has been offered admission.

Now, with some of the changes JAMB has made, especially the introduction of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) , confirming your admission status is no longer that simple.

According to the information made available by JAMB earlier concerning how the admission process will work, JAMB is expected to notify a candidate that a school has offered him or her an admission.

Such candidate is expected to either accept or reject such admission via the JAMB CAPS portal or via SMS.
Up till now, no candidates has been notified of any admission by JAMB not to talk of accepting or rejecting the admission despite the fact that some schools have already released their admission lists.

However, last week on JAMB’s official twitter page, a candidate asked JAMB, “When are we to start checking our admission status?” JAMB replied, “Candidates are advised to check their admission status on their profile from time to time.”

This means that candidates can log on to their JAMB profile to know when JAMB has offered them admission.
At the moment, this is the only credible update we have received from JAMB concerning checking of admission status.
So while we wait for JAMB’s next directive, candidates are advised to check their JAMB profiles from time to time for possible update on admission status.
